Chad Chancellor Named To Southern Economic Development Council’s Board of Directors


The Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC), the oldest and largest regional economic development association in North America, is pleased to announce Chad Chancellor as the Tennesse state alternate director to serve on the SEDC Board of Directors. Mr. Chancellor was elected at the SEDC Annual Conference held August 15-18 at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama. The state director will serve a two-year term on SEDC's board. Mr. Chancellor is the Chief Executive Officer of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Chad
will take of the seat in January 2010.


The Southern Economic Development Council is a 900+ member non-profit organization composed of a broad cross-section of active and influential industrial and economic developers from business and industry, utilities, transportation, financial and education institutions, chambers of commerce, and local, regional and state development agencies. “As a professional association our main goal is to provide tangible benefits to our members allowing them to advance the economic prosperity of the area they serve. Chad will be a great asset in helping us achieve this goal,” stated Kirkley Thomas, SEDC chairman for 2009.


Members in the 17-state area share a common interest: the promotion and enhancement of the economic development profession. The SEDC region includes the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland and the District of Columbia, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
