School Bus Accident On Highway 43

This morning a Lawrence County school bus was involved in a two vehicle accident at approximately 7:10 am.
The accident occurred on Highway 43 approximately 1 mile south of Leoma. Initially all students and the driver indicated that they were not injured, however as a precautionary measure two students were transported to the hospital.
The condition of the driver of the other vehicle is unknown at this time. All parents of students involved have been notified.
School personnel, law enforcement, and emergency personnel have all followed established protocol for accidents involving school buses.
Director of Schools, Dr. Bill Heath, who was immediately at the scene of the accident shares, “First of all, I would like to thank God for looking over these children and driver as this accident could have been a lot worse than it turned out for them. I want to say a big thank you to the Lawrence County Schools Transportation Department, to the driver, EMS personnel, and Law Enforcement for their quick response and care given to our children.”
