Rent Money Stolen From Mailbox
An Iron City resident reported to law enforcement officers Wednesday that money she had left in a mailbox to pay her monthly rent payment, had apparently been stolen.
The victim, age 34, reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that for the past three years she had left her rent money in a mailbox for her landlords, and had experienced no problems in the past.
She said that she put $300 cash in the mailbox on Saturday, August 10, but was later informed that her landlord did not receive the payment. She told deputies that a gate key that had been left in the mailbox was also missing.
Investigation into the crime is continuing at the current time.
