Resident Bilked Out Of Money Through Internet Fraud

A local woman reported to authorities Tuesday that she had attempted to purchase a Great Dane puppy via the internet only to discover later that the transaction was a scam.

The victim, age 21, reported to Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies that on Sunday, August 3 she had paid $300 via Western Union to mallycharm@textnow.me. She said that the payment had gone to an address in Africa, but that the puppy was to be shipped from a location in Arkansas.

The victim said that when she did not receive the puppy she called the contact number on the website and was told she would have to pay an additional $1,500, "Due to insurance reasons."

The victim told deputies that her mother had gone onto the website and inquired about purchasing a Great Dane puppy, and that they had tried to sell her the exact same puppy.

According to the victim, she made several attempts to contact the company about the puppy and her money, but has been unable to do so.
