Parolee Found To Be Growing Marijuana

A visit from a state parole officer landed a local man back in jail Monday after some marijuana plants were found to be growing on the property.

The parole officer requested that Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies be dispatched to the 2734 Highway 43 South home at 9:45 a.m. He said that he was at the residence to conduct a home visit when he found a small brown bowl that contained a small amount of marijuana.

The officer said he looked around the property and discovered three marijuana plants growing in pots on the edge of the property, near some trees.

Dustin Edward Gray was issued citations charging him with simple possession of marijuana and manufacture of marijuana.

A second man at the residence, Jeffery Lee Keeton, was found to be in possession of an unmarked pill bottle containing seventeen Tramadol pills.

Because both men had claimed ownership of the bowl containing marijuana, Keeton was cited for simple possession of marijuana and possession of Schedule IV narcotics.
