Motorist Stopped For Traffic Violations Is Held For Extradition

A motorist who was stopped for traffic infractions late Wednesday was subsequently held for extradition to another county.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department an officer initiated a traffic stop at the Fourth Street/North Locust Avenue intersection at 10:00 p.m. on window tint and improper display of license plate violations.

The officer reports that while speaking with the driver he noticed the odor of burnt marijuana. He said the driver, Justin Wayne Frazier, age 22, of 704 Herb Drive, admitted that he had smoked marijuana prior to the stop.

While searching the vehicle the officer reports finding three small bags of marijuana that had a combined weight of 3.8 grams. Frazier claimed ownership of all three bags.

While the officer was issuing citations, he reports that he was notified by Central Dispatch that they had received a hit from the National Crime Information Center on Frazier’s driver’s license. If stopped, they were instructed to detain him for extradition to Cheatham County.

The officer reports that he transported Frazier to the Lawrence County Detention Center without incident. He was transferred into the custody of sheriff’s deputies to await transport to Cheatham County.
