Man Sustains Injury When Assaulted With Baseball Bat

   A Lawrenceburg man sustained injury early Thursday morning when he was struck in the head with a baseball bat.

   Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report that they were dispatched to 302 Hoover Street at 12:14 a.m. They arrived to find that a man had a sustained a severe laceration to the back of his head.

Members of the Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service were summoned to the scene to render aid. They transported the man to Southern Middle Tennessee Regional Health Systems for treatment.

   Officers report that the victim and his brother had been at their home when three other men stopped by and “tried to jump them.” They said that one of the men swung a baseball bat at the younger brother, but missed, instead striking the older brother in the back of the head. The victim said that he lost consciousness briefly. The three men then reportedly left the area.

   The reporting officer noted that he was unable to locate the suspect at the time reports were filed. As a result of the investigation he obtained warrants charging Ethridge resident Trevor Miles Luffman, age 22, with two counts of aggravated assault.
