Driver In Crash Charged With DUI

   A driver that became involved in a crash in Lawrenceburg last week was later arrested on a DUI charge.

   Lawrenceburg Police officers were dispatched to the scene of the crash, at the Buffalo Road/West Gaines Street intersection.

   While speaking with the two drivers, officers report noticing that one of them exhibited signs of being intoxicated, such as slurred speech and being unsteady on his feet.

A field sobriety test was administered at the scene and reports show that the driver performed unsatisfactorily. The officer notes that the driver, “Was not allowed to attempt the other two tests due to his safety.”

   Reports show that the driver, identified as Ronnie Gerald McDow, age 62, of J.H. Bates Road, had taken prescription medications several hours prior. He was arrested on charges of second offense DUI, violation of the financial responsibility law, and failure to exhibit due care.

   McDow was scheduled an appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 5, 2014.
