Woman Arrested After Trying To Sell Drugs In Assisted Living Facility Parking Lot
A Lawrenceburg woman was jailed last week after she allegedly attempted to sell prescription drugs in the parking lot of a local assisted living facility.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department indicate that an officer responded to Country Cottage on Weakley Creek Road where two employees reported the crime.
The employees said that a woman had sounded the buzzer at the front door, saying that she was looking for a woman named “Terri.” She told them she had Terri’s drugs and wanted to give them back to her. After they told her repeatedly that no one by the name of Terri worked at the facility, they said she left in a white Nissan X-terra.
While the officer was looking around the area, the employees notified Central Dispatch that the woman had returned to the parking lot. The officer notes that when he returned, she was standing beside her vehicle with the door open.
When he asked her what she was doing on the property and whether she had been attempting to sell drugs, he said she reached into her vehicle and handed him a plastic bag that contained both blue and white pills.
The woman, identified as Margaret Faye Walters, age 63, of 101 Graves Drive, told the officer that she had purchased the pills for “Terri” and wanted her to take them back. She said she needed the money to buy food for herself and her dog.
An employee told the officer that Walters had asked if she wanted to purchase some of the pills. She said that she had asked another woman in the parking lot the same question.
Walters was arrested on charges of possession of schedule III and schedule IV drugs for the purpose of resale in a drug free school zone. She was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration. Her vehicle was seized and taken to the city’s impound lot.
Walters was jailed under a bond of $30,000.
