Man Assaulted While Walking Along Wolf Creek Road

Law enforcement officials opened an investigation on Monday after an Iron City resident reported that he had been assaulted while walking along Wolf Creek Road.

The victim, age 54, told sheriff’s deputies that shortly before 8:00 a.m. he had been walking for exercise when a man he knew pulled his vehicle alongside him.

He said the man made references to an incident during which a teenager had been slapped. He said when he told the man he didn’t know what he was talking about, the man got out of his vehicle and began to push him around.

The victim said that during the assault he was twice pushed down an embankment, causing injuries to his left arm and wrist. He said he was able to catch a ride with another motorist to a canoe rental business, but that the man followed, cursing and making threats against his life.

Emergency medical service personnel responded to the scene, then transported the victim to the local hospital for additional care.
