Toddler wandering roadway escaped his home during naptime
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officers determined that a toddler found wandering city streets Friday had actually escaped from his home during naptime.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, officers received calls regarding a young boy in the roadway on May Street. They arrived to find the boy dressed only in a diaper, walking east with his dog and holding a screw driver. Officers checked with a number of bystanders however none of them knew who the boy was. They were unable to find anyone familiar with the child anywhere on May Street.
Other officers arrived on the scene to stay with the child while reporting officers expanded their search. They report that as they turned south onto Fisher Alley they met the child’s mother, who was searching for him. She told officers that she had laid down with the two year old to take a nap earlier. She awakened to find that he was gone. She told officers that she had installed a chain on the door to prevent such incidents, but that she had left it unlatched because her older son was due home from a visit with his grandparents.
Officers report that the boy, who had sustained no visible injuries, was reunited with his mother.
