Fourteen Year Old Bicyclist Airlifted After Being Struck By Vehicle

A fourteen-year-old Summertown boy was airlifted to a Nashville hospital Wednesday afternoon after having been struck by a vehicle.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol report that the boy, identified as John Stancile, was riding a bicycle along Commodore Circle when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the Buffalo Road intersection.

He was struck by a Nissan Altima driven by thirty-three year old Jacquelines Rosson of Summertown.

Although both Rosson and Stancile tried to avoid the collision, officials said that the bicycle struck the right front fender of the car. They reported that Stancile was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Stancile was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Rosson was uninjured.

Officials said that no charges are expected to be forthcoming.
