Men Seen Stealing Kayaks From Saint Joseph Home

A Saint Joseph resident reported early Wednesday that he had seen the two men who stole kayaks from his residence.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the Iron City Road home shortly after 5:30 a.m. The forty-four year old resident reported that he had heard a vehicle outside his house around 5:00 and went to check.

He said he saw two men leaving his property in a red Chevrolet or Dodge truck. In the bed, he said, were his two kayaks. He told deputies the men fled at a high rate of speed in the direction of Highway 43.

The victim reported that both suspects were white males. The passenger, he said, had a slender build and short brown hair.

Deputies report finding a pack of cigarettes where they suspects' truck had been parked. It was taken into evidence.

The victim reported that the kayaks had a combined value of $800.
