Authorities Seeking Assistance To Identify Saturday Murder Victim
Lawrence County authorities are soliciting public assistance in an effort to identify a murder victim found in the West Point area Saturday afternoon.
Detectives with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department report that the unidentified black female was found just off of Wisdom Road.
She had sustained critical injuries and was quickly airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she later died.
Officials report that evidence collected at the scene led to charges of first degree murder being issued against Christopher Desmond Simpson, age 28. Simpson was subsequently arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center.
Detectives are asking that anyone who might have information regarding the female victim's identity or her family members, to contact Lieutenant Nathan Neese at 931-762-1608, extension 110, or call Lawrence Central Dispatch through their non-emergency number, 931-762-0450.
They are also seeking information regarding the relationship between the victim and Simpson.
