Thursday Crime Report

Theft

Residents of Tennessee Street in West Point reported to deputies that a silver and Orange Polaris RZR, valued at $17,000, had been stolen. It had been parked next to the porch and was taken sometime between 2:10 and 4:00 p.m. A neighbor told deputies that he had seen someone driving the vehicle around 3:15 to 3:30 p.m., driving away along Ore Road.

Vehicle thefts

Deputies spoke with the owner of a Daley Street, Summertown property who reported that when he moved to Cullman, Alabama last October, he had left two vehicles at the Daley Street property. He said that he was recently at the property and discovered that both were missing. The vehicles were a 1990 Lincoln MK7, valued at $2,500 and a 1993 Ford Mustang, valued at $3,000.

Theft

A twenty-six year old Summertown resident reported to deputies that his car stereo system had been stolen while he had been incarcerated at the local jail. He told deputies that his ex-wife had texted his mother, saying that she had taken the CD player and two amplifiers from his vehicle. The items had a combined value of $1,058.

Vandalism

Six hundred dollars' worth of damage was reported to a 2005 Dodge Caravan owned by a Henryville Road resident. The victim reported that he looked under the hood to find that someone had cut the wiring harness and transmission line. He said as soon as he started the van, it began spraying fluid.

Theft

Deputies received a report last week indicating that a miter saw and air compressor had been stolen from an outbuilding at a Lovers Lane property. The perpetrator cut a lock off of the building in order to gain access. Loss was said to total $1,600.

Vandalism

A resident of Highway 43 South in Leoma reported Tuesday that mailboxes at her house and shop had been vandalized, resulting in an approximate $125 loss. The home and shop were situated along the same road.

Thefts

A Chevrolet Lumina valued at $2,000 and a MK TaoTao scooter valued at $1,200 were reported stolen by an eighty-six year old Gimlet Road resident last week. The victim was able to tell deputies the identities of the persons he believed to be responsible. The scooter was recovered in the Gimlet Road area while the car was found abandoned at a Lawrenceburg business. Two counts of theft were issued against both Dustin Adams, 46, of 807 Fair Avenue and Shannon Nicole Alexander, 37, of 407 Third Street.

Theft

An Apple iPhone 5s was reported stolen by a young teen who had been at The Rink in Leoma for an all-night skate session last weekend. The phone was valued at $500. The fourteen year old victim told deputies that she had fallen asleep between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. During that time someone stole her phone and her hoodie.

Shoplifting

Walmart security personnel reported that while reviewing video surveillance footage they found that a man had entered the store, taken some speakers from a shelf, removed the speakers, returned the empty packages to the shelf, then left without paying for them. Loss totaled $397.

Burglary

A Weakley Creek Road resident reported to police officers Tuesday that while her 2014 Nissan Frontier was left unattended near the East entrance to Hope Springs Park, someone had broken out the driver’s window and stole her purse and all of the contents. Loss was estimated to be $205.

Shoplifting

Loss prevention personnel at Walmart reported to police officers that a man was observed removing three LED light bulbs from a shelf, then removing them from the package. They said they confronted the man, but that he ran out of the building without paying for the bulbs. They had a value of $49.80.

Theft

Police officers responded to a First Avenue home where the resident, 54, reported that an acquaintance had taken his flashlight without his permission. He said the flashlight had a value of $20.

Vandalism

A Liberty Avenue woman reported to officers that she had experienced a $70 loss when someone ran over her mailbox, damaging the box and post.

Theft

Police officers spoke with two female residents of Fourth Street who reported that several items had been stolen out of their back yard while they were in the process of moving. A Remington .22 revolver, weed eater, tool box filled with tools, and six plastic Beanie Baby containers, with a combined value of $1,470, were taken.

Theft

Offices responded to Holtsford Street where the forty-nine year old resident reported that some acquaintances had pulled into his driveway, stole a shelf and dog bowl, then left. He estimated his loss to be $75.

Burglary

A Brink Street resident stopped by the police department to report that her outbuilding had been burglarized. Taken were a portable combination generator/air compressor valued at $200.

Vandalism

Officers made their way to a Glenn Springs Road home where the resident found that someone had run off the roadway, through his fence. Officers report that the person responsible had pulled apart a brace on the fence to escape the fenced area. Damages were assessed at $1,250.
