Resident Airlifted After Bar Assault

An Ethridge man was airlifted to a Nashville hospital Friday after he was assaulted outside a local bar.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were dispatched to the victim’s Paige Road residence shortly after midnight.

Deputies report that when they arrived, the victim, age 39, was sitting on the porch with an ice pack on his face. They noted that his was covered in blood and the left side of his face was severely swollen. He was barely able to communicate with them at that time.

Deputies quickly called for a medical helicopter to transport the victim to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was transported to Unity Baptist Church where a landing zone was established, then airlifted to the facility.

A witness reported that he and the victim had been at Good Times Bar. While inside he said the victim and an unidentified male got into an argument. He told deputies that the argument escalated and they moved to the parking lot.

He said that he went inside to get the owner. When they returned he found his friend lying on the ground, fading in and out of consciousness.

The witness said that he was able to get the victim into his car and took him home, then called for assistance.

The witness had been able to snap a photo of the assailant’s license plate before he left. He was described as a white male “with a bad eye.”

Investigation into the assault is currently underway through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with pertinent information should contact the department at 931-762-3626.
