Visitors steal valuables from Avon Street resident then flee
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officers responded to assist an Avon Street resident in the early hours Sunday after he pursued some people who had allegedly stolen valuables from his home.
The victim, age forty-six, told Lawrenceburg Police officers that shortly before, three persons had come into his home. He only knew one of the men, who was accompanied by a second man and a female. He said that while they were in the basement, the female visitor asked to use the bathroom upstairs. When she returned, he said she immediately began to tell the men that they needed to leave.
The victim said that he became suspicious due to the woman’s actions and went upstairs to look around when they left. He found that his bedroom had been rummaged through. Eighty dollars was missing from his wallet and a ziplock bag that contained approximately $800 worth of jewelry items had been stolen.
The victim told officers that he quickly got into his car and began looking for the trio. He found them in the vicinity of Brannon Street and Beckham Avenue. He said that he confronted them, demanding that they return his belongings, and that they promptly began to run, darting behind a fence at a home on Beckham Avenue.
Officers made contact with a male resident of the home, however he was extremely uncooperative. The man asked the officer to leave and the officer informed him that he would soon be contacted by department detectives. The resident reportedly responded, “Send them on,” then went back inside and closed the door.
The case has been turned over for further investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
