The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has removed a convicted murderer from its list of Top Ten Most Wanted fugitives today as he was apprehended in Atlanta, GA early this morning.
The TBI, US Marshals and local law enforcement received information last night that Edgar Bailey Jr., 35, was in the Atlanta, GA area. The South East Fugitive Task Force was notified and quickly located and arrested Bailey at his father’s home. Bailey was inadvertently released from the South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton, TN on April 22, 2008. He was serving time for a Hamilton County, TN First Degree Murder conviction and sentenced to life in prison. Bailey was involved in a homicide that occurred on June 19, 2001 with two other defendants in Chattanooga, TN.
This is Bailey’s second time on TBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list. The first was in 2003 when he fled from authorities on the original First Degree Murder charge. He was captured in Gwinnett County, GA.
