Jewelry, Guns Taken During Burglary

Jewelry and firearms were reported stolen when burglars targeted a Granddaddy Road home last week.

The residents reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that they arrived home around 2:00 p.m. Thursday to find that a window on the back door had been busted and entry made to their home.

The only items reported missing were taken from two bedrooms. Reports show that the remainder of the home appeared to be untouched.

Missing were two .357 revolvers and two jewelry boxes containing numerous items of jewelry along with collectible coins and baseball cards

A neighbor reported seeing a car at the home between 10:00 and 10:30 that morning, while the family was away. He told deputies that he and his grandson had been in the front yard when he noticed a gold four-door Chevrolet Impala slow down in front of his house, then turn in at his neighbors’ house.

He said the car had black rims with chrome rings around them. He described the driver as a white male with dark hair, a beard, and glasses. He said he was wearing a short sleeve plaid shirt.

Loss was estimated at around $6,000. The case remains under investigation currently through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information regarding the case is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-3626.
