Drunk Driver Who Led Deputy On Chase Crashes, Then Flees On Foot

A man who fled rather than stop when signaled to do so by deputies Friday night eventually crashed, then ran from the scene before being apprehended.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies on patrol shortly before midnight in the area of Henryville Road, report that they narrowly avoided colliding with the suspect’s vehicle when he crossed the center line in a curve. Deputies were forced to swerve onto the shoulder of the roadway.

Deputies report turning around and signaling with emergency lights for the driver to stop. The driver, however, was uncooperative.

Deputies followed the driver onto Waterfork Road where he pulled to the side of the roadway, then pulled away. Sirens were engaged and deputies continued to follow.

They report that the driver failed to stop at several intersections and continued to flee along Waterfork, Denson, Hudson, Red Hill Center, Ethridge Red Hill, and Crews Roads.

The driver turned back onto Red Hill Center Road. When he attempted to turn onto Knott Road, deputies report that he overshot the turn and crashed into a ditch.

The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A deputy gave chase. He reports that the driver, “Fell after he dropped his beer can and I apprehended him in the field.”

The driver was identified as Adam Christopher Braden, 42, of 432 Third Street, Lawrenceburg.
Deputies report finding approximately .3 gram of crack wrapped in a cash register receipt in Braden’s pocket.

Braden was arrested on charges that include driving under the influence, being a habitual offender, possession of Schedule II narcotics, reckless driving, failure to yield to blue lights and sirens, evading arrest, and violation of the seatbelt law. He was also issued four citations for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Braden was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center without further incident.
