Marijuana Charges Issued Against Park Patron And Inmate

Marijuana charges were issued against both an inmate of the local jail and a patron at a city park during the week.

On Tuesday, officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department issued a charge of simple possession of marijuana against inmate Talmage Wayne Kelley, age 41. At the time Kelley was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges of shoplifting and public intoxication.

While in the booking room, officers indicate that Kelley’s housemate confessed that he kept marijuana inside their home. After obtaining consent for a search they seized a small amount of marijuana into evidence.

In a separate case, officers were dispatched to Rotary Park Wednesday to intervene in a possible fight. They report that Matthew Tyler Fincher, age 18, had become engaged in an argument with another individual, claiming that he had stolen his marijuana.

Officers found around 1.5 grams of marijuana inside Fincher’s vehicle along with a pipe, rolling papers, and digital scales.

Fincher was issued citations on charges of simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Fincher was assigned an initial court date of May 1, and Kelley May 2.
