Arrest Made In Virginia Drive Thefts

An arrest has been made in connection with thefts reported along Virginia Drive earlier this year.

Detectives with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report that the arrest stems from thefts that occurred on January 31 and February 4.

During the January incident the person responsible entered a building and stole numerous power tools along with some outdoor power equipment. Loss in that case was estimated to be $2,600.

During the second crime the victim reported that a 5’ x 8’ utility trailer had been stolen from the property. It had an estimated value of $600.

Detectives report that during the course of the investigation they were able to collect evidence linking Iron City resident Jason Lee Hand, age 37 to the crimes.

On Monday detectives arrested Hand on charges that include theft over $500, theft over $1,000, and criminal trespassing. He was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a bond of $62,000.

Hand is scheduled to answer the charges in General Sessions Court on May 1, 2014.
