Vandals Utilize Feces In Saturday Night Vandalism Spree

A weekend report of a missing mailbox led law enforcement officials to discover a crime spree in a Lawrenceburg neighborhood during which the culprits used feces to deface property.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that a man stopped by around 9:00 a.m. Sunday to report that his elderly mother’s mailbox was missing from her Dexter Avenue home and that some solar lights had been damaged.

When he followed the man to the scene, the reporting officer noted that, “It was immediately obvious several homes had been vandalized.” Yard house number signs had been moved from the proper residences to other homes, flower pots had been placed atop vehicles, dumped out, or broken, and solar lights at more than one location were either damaged or missing.

At one home officers report that items in the patio area had been demolished. Officers found multiple locations where vandals had defecated on the property, using a sock to clean themselves, then discarding it. Also, those responsible used a broom to smear feces across the concrete.

Many of the missing items were located at the Lynn/Frances Street intersection. Some items had been destroyed, others were returned to the owners. Officers indicate they were unable to identify the owner of some of the solar lights recovered.

At the present time investigation in the matter is on-going through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-2276.
