Marijuana Charge Results From Traffic Stop

Police officers conducting a routine traffic stop on Friday report that charges of possession of marijuana were issued against a passenger.

The stop was made along First Avenue in Lawrenceburg after an officer noticed that both a driver and passenger in a car were not secured by a seatbelt.

Reports show that the driver, Casey Lee Adams, 31, of 414 Third Street, could produce no valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and that his license plate had expired in April of 2009. He told officers that his license had been suspended due to non-payment of a citation.

Officers report that during the stop they discovered that passenger Jazzmin Renee Wilson, age 20, of 410 Manor Drive, was in possession of a small amount of a green leafy substance identified as marijuana.

Wilson was issued a citation on a charge of simple possession of marijuana. Adams was arrested for driving on a suspended license. He was also issued citations for expired license plate, driving while uninsured, and violation of the state seatbelt law.

Both will be required to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on May 1, 2014.
