Guilty Plea Entered In Vehicular Homicide Case

A Hohenwald man entered a guilty plea last week in connection with a 2012 crash in the Summertown area that claimed one life.

Keith David Brown entered a guilty plea Friday on one count of vehicular homicide.

Brown was the driver in a July 30, 2013 crash that claimed the life of eighteen year old Hohenwald resident Justin Sparkman.

Reports filed through the Tennessee Highway Patrol showed that Brown was driving a 2004 Chevrolet truck eastbound along Railroad Bed Pike.

When he approached the Highway 20 intersection, reports show that Brown ran a stop sign, crossed the highway, and impacted a tree. The truck then spun around, impacting a second tree.

Brown was injured in the crash as were passengers Mikal Woolridge, Holly Wray, and Dylan Brugman, all of Hohenwald.

Brown was charged with traveling at an excessive speed under foggy conditions. Authorities indicated that a small amount of drugs was also involved.

Under the plea bargain agreement Brown pled guilty to the C felony. He was sentenced to five years as a Range 1 offender with that time suspended to probation and loss of his driver’s license for a period of three years.
