Trailways Rep Says Local Service Is Now In Planning Stage
A representative of the Anchor Trailways bus spoke to members of the governing board of the City of Lawrenceburg Thursday, indicating that the line has been selected for grant allocations and will soon be bringing daily service through this area.
Mark Szyperski addressed the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council during their regular bi-monthly business meeting Thursday morning. Szyperski had addressed the board approximately six months ago, indicating that company officials were seeking federal grant dollars in order to provide the local service.
On Thursday, Szyperski indicated that the company had been granted a portion of the grant funds sought. The company intends, he said, to establish local service.
At this point, Szyperski said, the local service is in the planning stage. Plans are to establish a route from Florence, Alabama, to Nashville. Szyperski said that there will be a stop in Franklin in order to allow better access to various medical services.
Two buses per day will be routed through Lawrence County. The first will arrive in the early morning hours in order to ensure Nashville airport connections are met. The second, Szyperski said, will come through mid-morning. Both buses will make evening stops in Lawrence County during the return trip.
Syperski indicated that bus stops have not yet been designated. The company is hopeful to move into the implementation phase sometime in late April or early May.
