Meth Lab Discovered

On January 25th 2010 Agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff Department and St. Joseph Police conducted a knock and talk at 80 Five Points Road in Five Points after they had received a report that Benjamen Wesley Wayne was manufacturing meth.

Upon their arrival a strong smell of a chemical substance in which Agents associated with a meth lab was coming from the residence and there were numerous components used to manufacture methamphetamine were laying in the yard and in the carport area in the trash.

Agents secured the location after they were unable to get anyone to answer the door.  Once the residence was secured Agents applied for a search warrant in which was signed by Circuit Court Judge Robert Holloway.

Agents then returned to the residence and executed the search warrant and found what is reported to be the largest meth lab seized in 2010.  Benjamen Wesley Wayne is currently on state probation for meth manufacturing related charges stemming from a search warrant conducted at the same residence in September of 2009 by the Sheriff Department. Agents still haven’t been able to locate Wayne as of January 29, 2010.

Agents also report getting a meth lab on the 26th of January after a citizen reported that they were walking on Dukes Park Road in Summertown and observed a plastic bag with suspicious looking items in which they had observed in a presentation which was put on at Summertown High School by the Sheriff Department.

On the 27th of January Agents conducted a knock and talk operation at 235 South Old Military Road in St. Joseph and arrested Jarred Johnson after he was found to be in possession of a meth lab and morphine.

Agents report that they have seized 10 meth labs in the month of January which had to be cleaned up by environmental services which are contracted through The Drug Enforcement Administration, compared to the 28 meth labs seized in 2009.  There have been over 15 more that have not met the criteria for clean up services to respond in 2009 and 2010.  Sheriff Kenny Taylor would like to again thank the citizens of Lawrence County for their many calls and urges them to continue calling.
