Horse Knowledge Tested At Horse Bowl Contest
4-H Horse Sense
A large representation of the Lawrence County 4-H Horse Project Group had their horse knowledge tested at the Western Regional Hippology and Horse Bowl Contest January 17th at the Crockett County Middle School in Alamo, TN.
Hippology literally means "the study of the horse", and is a written exam coving all aspects of the horse industry including tack, breeds, colors, anatomy, nutrition, and diseases. Horse Bowl is a buzz-in answer contest, just like a scholastic knowledge bowl, except the questions are all horse related.
Junior team members included Kadin Inman, Paige Zabko, Charlotte Vogel, Mikayla Dixon, Christiana Dixon, and Kara Clark.
Junior High team members included Matthew Clark, Savannah Brus, and MaryEllen Vogel.
High School team members included Madison Franks, Kevin Vogel, and Levi Brus.
All participating members have been studying hard since November in preparation for this event. The teams are coached by the 4-H Horse Project Group volunteer leader Shanna Brus, DVM of Leoma.
Please join us for our next meeting in February. Don't have a horse? No problem! There are many events throughout the year, including horse bowl and hippology, in which everyone can participate.
